PRIMARY FUNCTION
Paramedics provide advanced life support (ALS) and/or basic life support (BLS) to patients with illnesses/injuries per established standards of care and in accordance with the current jurisdictional medical protocols for emergency medical services providers. The Paramedic will be responsible for the narcotics medications as per State protocols, Patient Care Reports (PCRs), ventilators & IV pumps, and all other ALS supplies on the ambulance while working. The Paramedic may be asked periodically to assist in training new team members and/or evaluating new team members, notifying management of now/no ALS supplies, and other duties as assigned.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide advanced life support (ALS) and/or basic life support (BLS) within scope of practice.
Complete patient care reports and other documentation and submit paperwork to appropriate parties while maintaining confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Conduct regular inventory of assigned transport unit with particular attention to medications, fluids, and other material subject to expiration, and rotate these items to maintain use the oldest supplies first.
Comply with all safety guidelines and recognize & promptly report unsafe situations
Operate assigned vehicles safely and in accordance with applicable traffic laws at all times.
Ensure readiness of assigned vehicles at beginning and end of shift.
Clean and fuel assigned vehicles and care for and maintain, within reason, equipment and assigned apparatus; report deficiencies to proper personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
National Registry & Maryland EMT-P (or EMT-I/CRT)
Healthcare Provider CPR certification
Driver’s license with safe driving record
Ability to pass a drug screen, criminal background check, and pre-employment interview
Read & write in the English language
